About us
One question daily. A lifetime of reflection.
One question daily is a small, focused space where one new question appears every day, and you decide how much of your answer to share with the world.

What is One question daily?
One question daily is a minimalist web application built around a simple idea: every day, a single new question appears, and everyone answers the same question at the same time.
There is no feed to scroll, no algorithm deciding what you see, and no pressure to post constantly. Just one question, once a day, for anyone who wants to stop for a moment and think.
The project started as a small personal experiment in daily journaling and has grown into a shared space where public and private reflection live side by side.
How One question daily works
The whole experience is built around four simple steps that repeat every day.
- 01
A new question every day
At midnight, the question of the day changes automatically. Everyone who visits One question daily on a given day sees the exact same prompt, which keeps the experience simple and consistent.
- 02
Answer publicly or privately
Before you submit your answer, you choose its visibility. Public answers can be read by anyone who visits the question; private answers are only ever visible to you, even though they are saved to your account.
- 03
Read and like other answers
Once you have answered, you can scroll through the public answers other people left for the same question and show appreciation with a simple like.
- 04
Revisit your own history
Every answer you write, public or private, is saved to your personal answers page, organized by question, so you can look back on how your thinking has changed over time.
Why a single One question daily?
Most platforms are built to maximize the time you spend on them. One question daily is designed to do the opposite: ask one meaningful question, get a short and honest answer, and let you get on with your day.
Writing a little bit, regularly, is one of the simplest habits people describe as helpful for organizing their thoughts, noticing patterns in how they feel, and remembering what mattered on a given day. One question daily tries to make that habit as frictionless as possible by removing the blank page: the question is already there, every day, waiting for you.
Because the same question is shown to everyone, answering it also becomes a small, shared ritual. You are never the only person thinking about that particular question on that particular day.
Public by choice, private by default control
Every answer on One question daily carries an explicit visibility setting that you choose before publishing it. Public answers are attached to your username and can be seen by any visitor to that question's page. Private answers are stored under your account but are never shown to anyone else, including in the answered-questions history of other users.
You can change how you answer each question independently: nothing forces you to keep the same visibility for every entry. Some days you might want to share your answer with the community; other days you might prefer to keep it just for yourself.
Answers posted without an account are treated as anonymous public answers: visible to everyone, but not linked back to a personal profile.

A small project, built in the open
One question daily is an independent project, not a large company product. It is built and maintained with a strong focus on simplicity, privacy and respect for people's time.
There is no engagement-optimized notifications built into the experience. The goal is for the web to be genuinely useful for a couple of minutes a day, and then get out of your way.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to answer the One question daily?
No. You can answer the question of the day without signing up, and your answer will be posted as an anonymous public answer. Creating a free account lets you choose private answers, like other people's answers, and keep a personal history of everything you've written.
How often does the question change?
A new question is published once every day, at midnight. The same question stays active for the entire day for every visitor, and One question daily then automatically moves on to the next one.
Who can see my private answers?
Only you. Private answers are saved to your account exactly like public ones, but they are never shown on the public question page or in anyone else's view of the archive.
Can I see questions from previous days?
Yes. The archive page shows every past question in a calendar, so you can revisit any day and read, or answer, the question that was posted then.
Is One question daily free to use?
Yes. Answering the One question daily, browsing the archive and reading public answers is free.
What languages is One question daily available in?
One question daily is currently available in English, and the interface follows your preferred language automatically when possible.
Can I edit or delete an answer after posting it?
Not at the moment: once an answer is submitted it stays as it is, so it's worth taking a moment before posting. This may change as One question daily evolves.
